I'm BACK!!!

Hello my little buddies!!! I have returned! I have missed you all so much. I have been inspired to return to the fold of little buddies by my good friend and fellow little buddy Rachel when she came to Rexburg to visit us. It was so amazing to see her and hang out with Mel and her devil pants (ask mel about them). So quick update on my wondeful life. I am still at BYUI living in Kensington, which I like a lot, and I am living with val and 4 other amazing girls. I really like my ward and my bishoprick. I am the Enrichment Committee Leader person. It has been really good and I have gotten to work with some awesome girls. Im working part time still at EIRMC on the 3rd floor and I still love it as much as ever. And going to school full-time. Which is good too. During the first block I took a tennis class which I really liked. And the good news is that I will be all done with school in July! Afterwhich I have no idea what I am going to do with my life. But I'm pretty sure I am going to leave the good town of Rexburg behind. That is pretty much it. Oh and guess what? My grandparents just got called on a mission to Nauvoo!!! Its so close to my family they will get to see them fairly often. Its pretty cool! Well I love you all and I love hearing about your lives. We need a reunion sometime!!!

Once upon a time I had 3 and soon to be 4 callings, totally normal!

It's true! The first one I've had for a few months...that's right, I got called to be in the choir. Pretty sure I can't read music, but hey, do what you gotta do. The bishopric said they find more people go to choir if they're called rather than invited. Don't worry, I got sustained and everything. 2nd, I'm the RS sports coordinator, 3rd, I'm an FHE coordinator...it's a 9-person committee. And soon, I'll be the 4th, a visiting teacher. YEAH YEAH!

A little change here and a little change there...

Well so this whole transferring schools is already complicated enough but let me tell you what's all been going down.
So in moving my tushy over to BYU there are some things that have to be done like get into PR programs that let you take the classes you need. Unfortunately I have not got into the program yet so then I find my self with an empty semester. So after a lot of strange and secret plotting with counselor people AKA "agent rosemary", I find that in my major it is strongly encouraged to have a minor. I was decided between an advertising graphic design and french when "agent periwinkle" tells me that I can not be a design minor because I am not a advertising major. It was rather frustrating considering I had already felt very good about my decision to go with that minor. So I worried about it all day and realized I was too intimidated by French to go forward with that.
This is when i feel prompted to speak to my dad about it. Now if any of you know how my family works you will know that I would very very rarely go to my father for advice but i did it anyway. After telling him the whole story we came to the conclusion that i will be a visual arts minor. It makes sense i swear. With this minor i can still take two design classes which would give me the skills i need. Plus i love art so why not?!
Anywho that was a long explanation of why I'm a visual arts minor. There's still a lot i need to take care of before all the stress of transferring is over but for now i am registered and visually artsy happy!

P.S. There is this wonderful minor i found called logic. I almost wanted to declare it cause i thought it would be funny. As Sara pointed out: communications major with a minor in logic. Really? Why else would i go to school then to work on the two things i struggle most with ^^

The joys of working with people that aren't used to change!

I strongly believe and have a passion for student involvement! If you really want to get something out of it, you really have to put something into it. Some of my best experiences at BYU-Idaho come from me being involved in student activities. There was so much going on and everyone knew about it. Coming here to Dixie State College was like a day and night difference. The spirit is different, campus isn’t alive, there doesn’t seem to be much going on, and the more I talked to people the less aware they are about student activities. Sometimes I wonder if my vision is too big, if my dreams are too high. Talking to the Vice President of Student Services today, sure made me feel like that. I can see where he’s coming from that he just purchased a new program that would organize campus online and I come to him with an idea that I’m actually doing something about; but why throw it all on me, when I’m the one coming to him with an organizational idea that is actual being praised by all others with “authority.” I felt like a missionary all over again, at someone’s door being completely disrespected and unheard. My intentions are to improve the college and programs, assisting in the growth here. He said I was completely overstepping my boundaries and selfishly coming up with something that would improve my program, and he was appalled that I would come into “his area” and blindside him with my ideas. I’m still trying to see where exactly he was coming from. He said that he doesn’t just go to the English department and re-vamp their programs and he doesn’t tell the army where they should aim their cannons. If this man would just take a step back and see how much of a good thing this could be for the college. So I asked him what I could have done better and after his outrageous scenarios, came to the conclusion that I didn’t go through the proper channels. He said it seemed like a great idea and if only I would have talked to him first…but he did want me to know that he isn’t power hungry. Pretty sure that’s why I stopped by his office in the first place…to talk to him about an idea.
